86. The Swarm
Bonnie recalled her father saying “They’re not really that friendly”, as she was nursing a nasty peck injury as a child. Sal was friendly but some of the peacocks that she raised were as mean as snakes.
Especially the females.

Females were not as big as males but could be more aggressive. The females could reach ten pounds and grow to almost four feet in length. Jack and Bonnie had no idea how such a large number of bees could have entered the woods.
87. Dumped
Jack replied, “A few months ago they must have been abandoned.” “Someone didn’t want” them. His heart was breaking for the birds who had lived in his woods, struggling to survive. It’s no wonder that they laid their eggs on his farm. They had no choice. How could anyone abandon animals in this way?

Jack watched the mother birds sauntering over his cornfields and picking fights with his cats. The birds were free to roam the area without Jack around to scare them away.
Jack sighed.
