Byron du Bois’ “Warehouse Fire” was selected as a runner up in the Drone Awardsin 2018 for his work. Du Bois’ “Warehouse Fire”, a smoke-filled blaze in Transnet warehouse, was captured by his drone. Transnet is still investigating the fire. However, the results show that the company did not keep up with the service of the hydrants.

The fire in the Rossburgh warehouse still covered Durban with smoke, even though it occurred in Rossburgh. The chaotic scene kept firefighters busy all day. Du Bois’ drone of choice is not known, but he may have used a PowerVision PowerEgg Wizard – a powerful outdoor drone capable of capturing the photo without Du Bois needing to get too close to the frightening scene.
67. Shadows Followed
Possible Drone Used: DJI Mini 2
Where to buy: DJI Drones
Cost: $449*
Haiquan Zhang took this Siena Award-winning photo in 2020. This photo, entitled “Follow by Shadows,” is an example of how drones can transform ordinary phenomena into something extraordinary. Xiang’s photo shows three zebras with much larger shadows trailing behind them.

This could have been captured by the DJI Mini 2 drone. The Mini 2 drone is a great option for outdoor photography, even though it’s smaller than other DJI products. “Followed by Shadows”, a film shot on the African plains, was filmed in this area. The plan was likely to cross the plains to reach the savannah forests, their natural habitat.
