At this point, Dave was detained and questioned. Dave knew that a tent was being built. He had no other idea of what happened. Dave was released after they determined that he did not do anything wrong. Dave traced his steps to the storm drain. He knew that the German Shepherd had escaped. Dave was immediately questioned by the police about his involvement. Dave was nervous but answered the questions honestly.
He said he saw the dog and ran into the sewers in order to help it. They were sceptical, but had no proof that Dave had done anything illegal. Dave felt relieved that the police had let him go. He feared he’d be blamed for his dog’s escape. He thanked them for their help and made his way quickly back to the drain. He was determined that he would find the dog, and then help it.
