Unsure if it was even a monkey
It was a small, black baby with no distinguishing features. It was too young to recognize the face. It would have had to be a monkey to have such a face. He could not think of any other explanation.
He had another idea
Jonathan did not have a new thought until he continued to walk. It’s possible that the animal was not native to this area or woodland. Even though a monkey would not be native to the area, at least it would make sense. How did it get here, if the animal wasn’t native to the area. Once again, the only answer that made any sense was from humans.
