13. The Explanation
Kate quickly learned that, although it looked like a penny, it was a piedfort. A piedfort is a thicker coin than normal issues, and is made to be a collectors’ item.
Kae was confused. She thought that the coin was money she could sell for a large profit. She was dejected when the expert looked at her and told her that, even though she didn’t use it as currency, this coin was worth much more than what she had thought.
