What is The Treasure Act of 1996 really? The Treasure Act of 1996 is a law created by the Parliament in the United Kingdom. It states that anyone who finds an object that could be classified as treasure must report it.
If you don’t comply with this law, you could be sentenced to prison. This law was intended for treasure hunters and gravediggers, who regularly defaced historical properties to search for wealth.
